Turkish reinforcement supplier Kordsa Teknik Tekstil AS has developed a new resin technology to shorten the curing process from 9 minutes to 3, with increased surface quality of the composite materials.

The Izmit-based company said the “revolutionary technology” was developed at the Turkish R&D Center at the Composite Technologies Center of Excellence. This center brings together industry representatives and academics under the same roof for basic research and technology development.

The short curing cycle and hot de-mouldable nature of the resins are especially optimised for mass production at automotive industry, Kordsa added.

Compression moulding is the recommended process for this new resin system.

The new resin system, claimed Kordsa, cures under 3 minutes at 150°C at press under isothermal curing conditions and has also long out-life of two weeks at ambient temperature.
